The Skinny:  Sometimes amusing, sometimes telling, and sometimes embarrassing. This “guy issues” comedy from promising director Barbara Wong is too uneven and too scattershot to be truly successful, though it does have its share of minor positives. Not a bad movie, but not really a good one either.

The Skinny: Bombastic and somewhat crass, Champions is also watchable thanks to copious martial arts sequences and an over-the-top vibe that channels Hong Kong Cinema of old. It’s too melodramatic and pandering to be considered quality, but its old-school charm makes it somewhat entertaining. However, at two hours it’s way too long.
